WATCH: Travis Kelce sounds off on Taylor Heinicke’s roughing the passer celebration during Monday Night Football

In typical cornball fashion, Commanders QB Taylor Heinicke aggressively celebrated a roughing the passer penalty in the fourth quarter of Monday night’s contest between the Eagles and Washington.
Washington’s signal caller didn’t have much to cheer about throughout the night. He finished the game with his worst passer rating of the season (66.9) while completing under 60 percent of throws and committing two turnovers. But hey, at least he sat down in the backfield, praying for an Eagles defender to hit him and incur a 15-yard penalty. Franchise quarterback stuff right there.
No one in Philadelphia was happy about it. And neither was Travis Kelce, who sounded off on the celebration in a recent episode of his and Jason Kelce’s new podcast, “New Heights“
Travis Kelce on Taylor Heinicke’s corny celebration after late hit
“I’ve never seen a quarterback get so excited because of a roughing the passer,” Kelce said. “I don’t know why it rubbed me the wrong way, man. I just turned the TV off when he got excited like that. I was like, ‘that’s what we’re getting excited for, man?'”
Getting that amped up over a penalty is just weird, in my humble opinion. Especially if said player had a pretty horrendous game and was the beneficiary of a strong running game and solid performance from his defense.
Whatever. It happened and we’re moving on. The last thing I’m going to do is lose sleep over the Taylor Heinicke and the Commanders.
