Timothy Weah’s goal to put USMNT up 0-2 called offsides by VAR, provides even more proof that robots shouldn’t be officiating sporting events

The USMNT are hanging on to a 0-1 lead over Iran in a “win or go home” game for Group B in the 2022 World Cup.
Christian Pulisic gave the USMNT a 0-1 at the half, and Timothy Weah nearly made it 0-2 in early in the second half but of course, VAR had to call it offsides on a VERY questionable call.
Timothy Weah Goal Waived Off by VAR
Guess what? That goal didn’t count. I thought for sure Timmy Weah found the back of the net to give the USMNT an 0-2 lead over Iran in a must-win game but VAR clearly had other ideas.
More about VAR from The Sporting News
According to FIFA, the new system offers “a support tool for the video match officials and the on-field officials to help them make faster, more accurate and more reproducible offside decisions on the biggest stage of all”.
The system involves twelve specialized cameras mounted on the stadium roof that are constantly tracking both the ball in play and 29 data points on each player’s body. The official World Cup match ball also has a sensor placed inside sending data to the video operation room 500 times per second, which helps accurately assess the point at which the ball is struck.
For all the idiots that want robots officiating sporting events, is this what you’re asking for? I have and will continue to vote “no” for any type of VAR and/or A.I. to ruin sports once and for all.
Why does Var turn the camera like that? At least make it the same as the broadcast and then maybe people won’t bitch and complain every time this robot machine ruins an amazing play in the World Cup?
Just look at the grass lines on the field. The eye test always wins. The Iranian defenders foot is clearly behind Weah but I guess Weah’s knee was past him?

Just think about it. Call the offsides if the players’ entire body or at least the majority of his body is past the last offender. VAR is calling him offsides because his knee is past the defender? That’s just ridiculous.
The USMNT still holds a 0-1 lead over Iran in a must-win match to advance to the Round of 16.
Pulisic and Weah made it happen against Iran. Weah just got subbed out of the match. Someone needs to step up and put this match away so we can all breathe.
