Eagles CB Avonte Maddox gives encouraging update on injury status for Week 14

It looks like the Philadelphia Eagles may get their starting NB back in the lineup for Week 14.
After being placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury ahead of the team’s Week 10 contest with Washington, Avonte Maddox’s 21-day practice window was activated this week. The nickel corner hasn’t been on the Eagles’ injury report all week and when he got the chance to speak with reporters, he revealed that he could return to the starting lineup this Sunday against New York.
“I feel pretty good,” Maddox told the Eagles media. “Actually, I feel great.”

Friday’s practice will give us a clear indication on Maddox’s status for Week 14, but Thursday was a very encouraging sign.
“Went well, able to run, didn’t do anything too crazy,” Maddox said. “We’ll see how I’m doing as the week continues and hopefully be ready on Sunday. Definitely encouraged. Just being back being able to run again. There was a point where I couldn’t even walk without hurting myself.”
Getting Maddox back on the field would be huge for the Eagles defense.
The fifth-year corner has played 81 percent of the team’s defensive snaps when healthy in 2022, notching 27 combined tackles, three pass defenses, one fumble recovery, and one interception in the process. In coverage, Maddox has been solid, allowing a completion percentage of 66.7 and a passer rating of 77.5 on 27 targets.
The Eagles will need to officially activate Maddox by Saturday if he’s going to suit up on Sunday.
Rookie DT Jordan Davis is the most recent player to come off IR, with Maddox following right behind him. TE Dallas Goedert is the next one on the docket. He’ll be eligible to return from IR next week when the team prepares for the Chicago Bears in Week 15.
