Eagles Buzz: Darius Slay sends strong message to locker room before NFC East matchup vs. Giants

The Eagles have a chance to be the first NFC team to clinch a playoff berth Sunday afternoon vs. the Giants.

One week after AJ Brown got his revenge against the Titans, another Eagle is suiting up to face his former team.

After failing to find a trade partner for CB James Bradberry last offseason, the Giants were forced to release him due to salary cap constraints. The issue was the timing; New York waited until May to cut ties with Bradberry after many teams had already spent their budget in free agency.

Bradberry eventually signed a one-year deal with Philadelphia and has formed one of the NFL’s top CB tandems with Darius Slay. When asked during the week if he had the same level of emotion as AJ Brown the week prior, Bradberry stated that his situation with the Giants was different.

“I think the situations were a little different. I have come to peace with it,” Bradberry said via NBC Sports Philadelphia. “And us winning a lot of football games has helped me with that. I’m part of the Eagles, we’re winning and I’m going to try to keep that going.”

While winning cures all, Bradberry will undoubtedly want to send a message on Sunday, and his teammate knows it too. In their final team meeting before heading up the turnpike, Darius Slay reportedly told the Eagles that this game is “personal” because it’s personal for his running mate James Bradberry. The team gave a standing ovation afterward.

Bradberry is currently amongst the league leaders in passes defended this season (14) and passer rating allowed (46.0) when targeted. A more lucrative contract is indeed in his future.
