Shake Milton on Half Court Buzzer Beater: ‘A Hundred Percent Skill’

The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the New York Knicks on Christmas Day 119-112 to improve to 20-12 on the season and remain in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
James Harden and Joel Embiid combined for 64 points, 12 rebounds, and 14 assists in the win as the Sixers won their eighth straight game.

It was a game that they didn’t even hold a lead in until the fourth quarter, when James Harden and Georges Niang caught fire to secure the win. Harden played every minute of the second half, scoring 18 points while Georges Niang hit four three pointers in the final frame, finishing with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting.
De’Anthony Melton scored 15 points in the win and made 5-of-7 shots from beyond the arc. Shake Milton scored eight points, including a first half buzzer beater to cut the Knicks lead to three points heading into the locker room.
After the game, Milton told NBC Sports Philadelphia that the three pointer from half court was “a hundred percent skill” but deep shots like that aren’t in his typical practice routine.
“Nah, not really, honestly,” he said. “I don’t know. Look over my career and I’ve had a knack for making those type of shots.”
The last quote from Shake is certainly true. As NBC Sports Philly laid out perfectly, Milton has hit more than a handful of big shots with time expiring over the past few years with the Sixers.
