‘A Philly Special Christmas’ hits No. 1 on Billboard Compilations Chart, Top 10 on album sales

Jason Kelce, Jordan Mailata, and Lane Johnson’s A Philly Special Christmas has been racking up the numbers since the album’s full release on Dec. 23, 2022. The charity album, which benefits Children’s Crisis Treatment Center, hit No. 1 on the Billboard Compilation Chart, as well as Top 10 on Album Sales.
Billboard shared the numbers for ‘A Philly Special Christmas’ on their website:
‘A Philly Special Christmas’ was released as a digital download album for purchase and through streaming services on Dec. 23. In the week ending Dec. 29, 2022, the album sold nearly 11,000 copies in the U.S. according to Luminate – the largest sales week for a non-soundtrack compilation album in over two years. Nearly all of those 11,000 sales were digital downloads. The album previously was available on vinyl, and sold 3,000 copies between the weeks ending Dec. 1 and Dec. 22.
Those numbers show just how much Eagles fans love these guys, as well as how good the album itself is. Also, considering the vinyl was limited edition, these numbers could have been far higher.
As we discussed on the Grease the Poles podcast, we wish the album had come out sooner. Dec. 23 did not allow us to fully enjoy the album before the holidays passed. That, too, likely impacted some of these numbers, but I’m not a music industry guy.
Granted, our guys opted for a 2018 Kanye/Pusha T-style album with only seven songs, so it’s not like there was a vast catalog to dig into. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as it allowed them to release strictly bangers (while still having time to be the best offensive line in football).
That said, the album is so damn good I’m left wanting more anyway. Sure, that’s largely due to two of the songs not featuring an Eagles player, and the track featuring Merrill Reese not being a song to begin with, but they were still fantastic additions to the project.
People call Mariah Carey the Queen of Christmas, and rightfully so. However, with the release of A Philly Special Christmas, it seems Philadelphia has found our Three Wisemen.
While the holidays have passed, you can order the A Philly Special Christmas vinyl record here, along with holiday greeting cards and stickers featuring our favorite o-linemen. I don’t even own a record player and I’m considering the purchase.
