Quick injury update from the San Francisco 49ers.
Christian McCaffrey is day-to-day with a calf contusion, head coach Kyle Shanahan announced Monday
McCaffrey is still expected to to play Sunday when San Francisco heads to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles in the NFC Championship Game.
In the divisional round against the Dallas Cowboys, McCaffrey rushed the ball 10 times for 35 yards and a touchdown, while hauling in six receptions for 22 yards. During the second half however, McCaffrey’s calf injury limited him from getting back out on the field.
Christian McCaffrey has scored a TD in 9 straight games.
“I was fighting but made it through. Made it through great,” said McCaffrey, who led San Francisco with 1,210 scrimmage yards to go along with 10 total touchdowns in 11 games this season, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports.
Elijah Mitchell took over running duties and finished with 14 rushing attempts for 51 yards against Dallas. Mitchell is also listed day-to-day with a groin injury, along with defensive end Charles Omenihu, who is dealing with an oblique strain.
“We’re expecting to get them all back for Sunday,” Shanahan said. “We’ll see how it goes through the week for practice, and hopefully, it will go well.”
