Philadelphia Flyers fans are organizing a “Sell The Team” protest outside Xfinity Live! on Saturday.
Flyers Fans “Sell The Team” Protest
Look, I’m all for a good protest against a Philadelphia sports organization, especially when it’s the Flyers, who are owned by the evil folks over at Comcast Spectacor. The organization is a complete dumpster fire and no one within the confines of the Wells Fargo Center want to acknowledge it. The best thing I’ve seen from Flyers fans this season happened just last week after the booed GM Chuck Fletcher at a season ticket holder event.
The “Sell The Team” protest has my full support. Here’s the Instagram leading the charge.
I want to make that very clear before suggesting that there should be no protest at all.
Reason being, the best way to get to the Flyers organization is for every hockey fan in the city of Philadelphia to just stop showing up to games, stop buying merchandise, and stop watching them play hockey, and unfollow all organization accounts on social media.
You have to hit them in the pockets. Having fans get together outside of Xfinity Live! – a place that everyone hates, to protest against a hated organization that hates you back just doesn’t seem like the right move.
4 Actions to Take to Enforce Organizational Change
- Don’t buy merchandise.
- Don’t attend games.
- Don’t watch on television.
- Unfollow all social media accounts.
Regardless, you have to respect Flyers fans. I haven’t watched the Flyers for quite some time (outside of the COVID season) but this current situation is like when the Phillies were in the midst of a decade-long playoff drought.
It’s a dark journey but as the Fightins proved last year, there could be light at the end of the tunnel. Anyways, get out there and demand change. It’s your right as an American.
