CJ Gardner-Johnson’s farewell video is heart wrenching stuff

CJ Gardner-Johnson has all but confirmed he will not be re-signing with the Philadelphia Eagles. The ball hawk safety quickly became a fan favorite in Philly after coming over in a trade, but it appears he’s set to move onto greener pastures and get an absolute bag.
CJ Gardner-Johnson posted his farewell video on all of his social media accounts:
God damn, this one hurts. Not only will I miss CJ, this makes me feel some emotional aftershocks of the Super Bowl loss.
We all knew going in that the Eagles team that went to the Super Bowl was only going to be in town for one season. With a host of free agents, especially on defense, and an MVP-caliber quarterback to sign to an extension, there’s just not enough money to go around.
Even so, I wasn’t prepared for this reckoning. I expected Howie to prioritize CJ Gardner-Johnson in free agency, but clearly he has other plans in mind. Many thought he’d be franchise tagged, but the deadline to do so came and went.
The replies to his post on Instagram hurt me even more. Big Play Slay and AJ Brown both showed their soon to be former teammate love.

In the end, I can’t be mad at CJGJ. He balled out and showed the league exactly how good he is. Unfortunately, he’s officially too good to play at the price tag Howie offered him. Honestly, I just hope the Eagles didn’t insult him with a cut-rate offer and just gave him a gift basket and a thank you note.
