Preview: Zack Wheeler, Phillies open up 3-game home series vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks at 6:40 EST

The Philadelphia Phillies kick off a 3-game set against the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight at 6:40 EST.
Starting Pitchers
- Zack Wheeler (3-3, 4.06 ERA)
- Tommy Henry (1-1, 5.00 ERA)
The Phils got a crucial series win on Sunday afternoon powered by a 2-run pinch-hit homer from Bryson Stott in the seventh inning.
Taijuan Walker was great on short rest, logging five and a third innings with just two hits allowed while striking out three. The Phillies bullpen, who ranks 1st in ERA since May 7th, held down the fort, as a mix of five relievers finished out the final three and two-thirds.
- Seranthomy Dominguez: 0.2 IP, 0 H, 1 K
- Matt Strahm: 1 IP, 2 Ks
- Connor Brogdon: 0.2 IP, 0 H
- Gregory Soto: 0.1 IP, 0 H
- Craig Kimbrel: 1 IP, 1 ER, 2 Ks
Kimbrel, even after a 9th-inning solo homer pushed the score to 2-1, logged the 399th save of his career. The veteran closer did throw 21 pitches on Sunday, so don’t expect him to get #400 tonight, but we should see a historical moment of Kimbrel’s career occur over the next few days.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have been one of the biggest surprises in the 2023 season, holding a 27-20 record through 47 games and trail the Dodgers by just a game and a half. They’re 7-3 over their last 10 games and hold a 13-10 road record with a +12 run differential throughout 2023.
Their offense is being led by a group of players to start the year. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. holds a .304 average on the season, while Christian Walker has totaled 11 HRs and 34 RBIs. Corbin Carroll has been their on-base leader, while catcher Gabriel Moreno is hitting .311 behind the dish.
Phillies Starting Lineup
Brandon Marsh gets the day off once again after a 1-18 skid at the plate. Josh Harrison will hit 8th at third base, Dalton Guthrie rounds out the lineup in center, and Nick Castellanos remains in the 2-hole.
Tommy Henry vs. Zack Wheeler
Zack Wheeler takes the hill for his 6th home start tonight coming off an iffy outing in San Fran. Wheeler logged six total innings, allowing nine hits and four earned runs while striking out eight.
Wheeler holds a 3-3 record on the year with a 4.06 ERA but has excelled at home, tallying a 3.34 ERA in 29.2 innings with 34 Ks.
2nd-year lefty Tommy Henry will make his sixth start of the season tonight for the DBacks looking to find a bit of success on the road. Henry has logged a 7.20 ERA away from Chase Field and is coming off a tough start in Oakland, logging 4.2 innings while allowing six hits and four earned runs
