Eagles’ James Bradberry comes in at No. 1 on PFF’s latest cornerback power rankings

Although the Eagles defense had a major let down in Super Bowl 57, they played a huge role in the team’s success throughout the season.
Their pass defense in particular was stout all year, thanks in large part to CB James Bradberry. He may not technically be the Eagles’ No. 1 corner, but he certainly played like it in 2022.
Pro Football Focus recently dropped another cornerbacks power ranking; this time, based on the lowest passer rating allowed. Bradberry came in atop the list, allowing a 51.8 passer rating while tying Sauce Gardner with 21 forced incompletions on the year.
PFF on the Eagles CB
Bradberry backed up his late signing with the Eagles, posting the second-highest coverage grade (77.1) of his career. Not only that, his 51.8 passer rating allowed was the best mark of his seven-year career. Bradberry and Sauce Gardner were tied first with 21 total forced incompletions.
Bradberry started his career in Carolina, where he had to face the peak performance of Julio Jones, Mike Evans and Michael Thomas in his division. That being said, it makes sense that his grades have improved since moving to the NFC East, and the tape comes to the same conclusion. The Eagles ended up bringing back their veteran duo of Bradberry and Darius Slay, which at one point looked unlikely, but they return as one of the league’s best cornerback tandems.

After testing the free agency market this offseason, Bradberry resigned with the Eagles on a three-year, $38 million contract with $20M guaranteed. He’s more than earned his payday, but now that he’s one of the highest paid corners in the sport, the Eagles will be expecting more of the same out of No. 24.
