Man, it’s really hard to NOT make fun of the New York Mets, and more specifically Starling Marte this season. 

The Milwaukee Brewers took 3-of-4 from the Mets this week, highlighted by last night’s 3-2 win at Citi Field. The team with the highest payroll in Major League Baseball continues to be the most disappointing one this season.

The Mets have lost 18 of their last 24 games, and are now a season-worst nine games under .500 and 17 back of the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves. 

Last night, they did have a fighting change to split their four game series with the Brewers, but Starling Marte on multiple occasions, couldn’t deliver at the plate. 

With two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, a Mets fan sitting near home plate was caught on television screaming at Marte, “DON’T SWING AT EVERYTHING”. 

Starling Marte did not listen.

Starling Marte was brutal last night. As if the ninth inning blunder wasn’t enough, Marte also had an opportunity in the seventh inning to put the Mets ahead with one out and the bases loaded but instead, grounded into an inning-ending double play. 

Honestly, nothing makes me happier.
