Eagles’ Haason Reddick voted as a top-5 pass rusher by NFL executives and coaches

After recording his third straight 10+ sack season in 2022, Eagles edge rusher Haason Reddick has cemented himself as an elite pass rusher.
Eagles fans aren’t the only ones claiming so, either. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler conducts an annual survey of NFL executives and coaches in order to compile the top-10 players at every position. Voters share their top-10 players at each position to Fowler, and the ESPN analyst then ranks the candidates based on number of top-10 votes. Pretty simple.
Reddick has garnered enough attention from his peers to place inside the top-5 of this year’s pass rusher list, coming in at No. 5. Fowler writes:
““He’s a closer,’ an NFC executive said. ‘Three years, three teams, double-digit sacks back-to-back-to-back. That’s an impossible stat.’
Reddick’s five forced fumbles for the Eagles led the NFL, and his 27.5% pass rush win rate ranks second.
‘This is the perfect case of talent entering into the proper situation where he’s used correctly,’ an NFL personnel evaluator said.”

Reddick signed a three-year, $45M contract last offseason to join the Eagles. His $15M average yearly salary ranks 13th among edge rushers entering 2023, according to OverTheCap. After posting a career-high 16 sacks last season (tied for second-most in the league), it’s safe to say Howie Roseman and Co. have gotten some solid return on investment thus far.
Duplicating his outstanding production again this season will be no easy task. The Eagles added two members to their defensive line through the draft, DT Jalen Carter and EDGE Nolan Smith. And two of the team’s four double-digit sack getters from last season, Josh Sweat and Brandon Graham, will be back as well.
Offensive coordinators will surely key on Reddick throughout this season; he’s earned that. But the beauty of the Eagles’ pass rush is the quantity of top-notch pass rushers they can throw at you. As long as Reddick continues to lead that charge, he’ll remain in the elite discussion for his position.
