Eagles Buzz: Bears CB emerges as intriguing trade candidate
With the trade deadline at 4pm today, the Eagles still have some areas they can improve on with a proven player. The secondary still has some question marks at the CB spot, and with Bears corner Jaylon Johnson officially requesting a trade, the team could set their sights on him as a possible acquisition.
Johnson could be a potential target for Howie Roseman and the Eagles:
#Bears CB Jaylon Johnson has requested a trade out of Chicago, as @JFowlerESPN said. Extension talks have gone absolutely nowhere, and now this.

Johnson has had a solid season for a middling Bears franchise. He has 1 forced fumble, 2 INTs, and 4 PBUs through six games this. Granted, both of those picks came in the same game, but his play in coverage is really where he shines.
He’s currently PFFs third-highest graded CB overall (84.4) and has the second-highest coverage grade through Week 7 (85.8). The Eagles have struggled at times in coverage, and he could be a perfect fit to bolster their pass defense.
There’s also a close connection with Birds DC Sean Desai, who was the DC in Chicago back in 2021 and had high praise for Johnson. The opportunity to prove himself worthy of a big deal playing for a contender under his old coach could be exactly what Johnson needs.
While the move may not happen as the Eagles do have solid corners when healthy and playing as a unit, adding another quality player to a secondary recently shredded by Sam Howell isn’t out of the question.
