Darius Slay took issue with Seth Joyner after he said the Eagles’ CB unit was ‘disinterested’ in tackling vs 49ers
Darius Slay took issue with Seth Joyner following yesterday’s embarrassing 42-19 Eagles loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Slay hopped on Twitter to let Seth Joyner know that he was “talking out the side” of his neck, which in most situations, is true. Unfortunately, that wasn’t really the case yesterday and to give credit where credit is due, Joyner was on point with his analysis.
Darius Slay takes issue with Seth Joyner criticism of Eagles’ CBs
As Joyner noted in his reply to Slay, 11.16 YAC yds per reception and 148 yards after contact yesterday is a tough look for literally anyone on the Eagles defense.
After two straight defensive stops to begin the game, the 49ers responded by going 7-for-8 on third down which really was 8-for-8 because on the one the Eagles managed to stop, San Francisco converted on fourth down.

The Eagles’ defense was gassed in the second half and the 49ers took advantage by scoring SIX STRAIGHT TOUCHDOWNS after the Eagles’ managed to convert to red zone appearances with just field goals while sending Brock Purdy running for his line to start the game.
So yeah, it’s hard to argue with Joyner on this one, Slay.
Sorry but Darius Slay needs to play better to be referred to as just Slay
While it’s definitely true that the Eagles simply did not tackle as a team, there were still two really bad plays that we can’t overlook that directly involved Darius Slay yesterday.
The two plays were backbreakers…
2nd & 15: (49ers Third Drive) – Slay coughs up a 12 yard reception to 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk with some of the softest coverage I have ever witnessed. The drive ended in a touchdown and gave the 49ers the lead.
3rd & 7: (Midway Through 3rd Quarter) – Eagles respond with a touchdown after Big Dom gets ejected along with Dre Greenlaw. Momentum is on their side. Brock Purdy finds Brandon Aiyuk again. Slay with soft coverage. The drive ended in a touchdown. Momentum lost.
The Philadelphia Eagles simply cannot have DARIUS Slay clapping back on Twitter after a miserable performance like that against the only team that stands in the way of returning to the Super Bowl this year. It’s a bad look for all involved.
Fucking hit (and tackle) someone. That’s why you’re on the field!
There’s no other way to look at it. Just ask yourself how much confidence you have in the Eagles defense getting off the field on a third down. The answer is a unanimous ZERO.
Sorry Mr. Slay. This is the wrong time to be arguing on Twitter. Unfortunately, you just need to sit back and accept accountability while Eagles fans take that loss on the chin right there with you. Let’s just worry about fixing this shit before the Philadelphia Eagles head to Dallas next Sunday.

They are still 10 -2 pipe down scrap
