National Fine League: Breece Hall hit with a $43K invoice from the NFL after making routine contact with Falcons defender in Week 13
The NFL Fine Machine strikes again, this time, hanging New York Jets running back Breece Hall a $43,709 invoice after he lowered his head and made contact with an Atlanta Falcons defender in Week 13.
Hall was fined over $43K on the play below after his helmet made contact with Falcons cornerback AJ Terrell on a completed pass out of the backfield.
Breece Hall Fined $43K for Initiating Contact with Falcons DefenderÂ
Hall took to Twitter to express his frustration with the fine questioning what exactly he was supposed to do on the play if he’s not allowed to make contact with the defender.Â
Honestly, that’s a fair question from Breece Hall.
I literally can’t figure out why the NFL thinks that this is a play that warrants a fine. We literally just watched a running back lower his shoulder to protect himself from an incoming defender that was running full speed at him. That’s a perfectly normal football play. What the hell are we doing, NFL?Â
All season long, the NFL has made it a point to fine offensive players for lowering their heads to initiate contact to the helmet area of defenders.
The ridiculous part is, that rarely any of the plays actually result in flags during the actual game. We’ve seen this happen on several occasions including Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and even our guy D’Andre Swift against the Washington Commanders earlier this season.
