Darius Slay deflects blame again, says he had a ‘great game’ against Cowboys despite blowout loss

Some players get it, some don’t. Eagles cornerback Darius Slay, evidently, falls into the latter.

For two consecutive weeks, the Eagles have been blown out. In total, they were outscored 75-32 over the past two games. There’s plenty of blame to go around right now, but it doesn’t seem like Darius Slay believes he should be getting any of it.

After the Niners game, he and former Eagle Seth Joyner went at it on Twitter after Joyner said the defense didn’t want to tackle against San Fran. Then after the Cowboys game, Slay immediately hopped on Twitter to retweet and like numerous posts gloating about his performance and one of the bogus pass interference calls against him.

But, sadly, it didn’t stop there. On Darius Slay’s most recent podcast episode, he talked about the fans who put two trash cans outside of the NovaCare Complex early Monday morning. One labeled “No Play Slay,” and the other labeled as just “James Bradberry.” He actually joked about it and made the photo of the trash cans his profile pic on Twitter.

Nonetheless, when he talked about it on his podcast, he once again deflected blame from himself. His direct quote: “Overall, the game was great by me, you know what I’m saying? But as a team, we ain’t played worth a shit!”

I don’t actually disagree with the notion that Slay had a solid game last Sunday; he certainly wasn’t the main reason we lost. But nobody wants to hear this kind of shit after two blowout losses. And the only response that comes to mind when I hear a player act like this is, “Shut the fuck up.”

So please, Slay, shut the fuck up.
