WATCH: Brian Baldinger goes off on Jordan Davis’ lack of effort in recent weeks

There are a lot of problems with the Philadelphia Eagles right now. When asked about the underperforming defensive line, NFL analyst Brian Baldinger didn’t hold back on pointing out the main culprit.

Appearing on the most recent episode of the PHLY Eagles Podcast, Brian Baldinger singled out Jordan Davis for his lack of effort in recent weeks, stating that the second-year defensive tackle is clearly out of shape and “basically walking on the field.”

“It is clear that [Jordan Davis] is out of shape. I gotta believe they fine him every week. He’s overweight, and it shows. He’s not pursuing the ball, he’s nothing in the pass rush… I’m not sure why he keeps dressing… When plays are going on, he’s basically walking on the field.”

That’s a very strong critique of Davis from Baldy, but it’s really not that far off based on what we’ve seen throughout the year. The biggest question mark about Davis coming into the NFL was his weight and his ability to stay in shape for an entire 17-game season. Those concerns haven’t dissipated one bit.

Through the first seven games of this season, Davis accounted for four sacks and 10 pressures. Since Week 8, he hasn’t recorded a single sack and has only mustered eight pressures. His Pro Football Focus grade for the season currently sits at 70.5, which is a bit lower than his final mark last year, 71.4.

Of course, Davis isn’t the only issue with the Eagles defense, but there’s no denying he’s one of the problems. Brian Baldinger, as always, is spot on here.
