Neil deGrasse Tyson breaks down physics behind Eagles’ Brotherly Shove, reaches stunning conclusion
NFL Network personality and ultimate hype man Kyle Brandt has long been an admirer of the Philadelphia Eagles. He’s also a truth-teller, and sat down with renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson to discuss the physics behind the most unstoppable play in the NFL: The Brotherly Shove.
Neil deGrasse Tyson broke down the physics of the Eagles’ signature play for NFL Network:
Is time travel possible?

Are we alone in the universe?
How do you stop the Eagles’ Tush Push?
I asked Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson one of these questions. @neiltyson pic.twitter.com/tVUzp1zXII
Well, that settles it. The Brotherly Shove isn’t an unfair play worthy of banging, rather it’s simply, “another inevitable consequence of the laws of physics manifest in this universe.” That’s about as definitive as it gets.
That’s good enough for me, and that should be good enough for you. I’m not even a particularly big fan of Neil deGrasse Tyson these days, but if he’s saying the Eagles have a play on par with black holes and exploding supernovae, it’s hard for me to bash the man. Even though there’s a chance he’s been heavily compromised by the CIA.
Also, I know they used the term Tush Push, which I actually prefer, but the people of the Fighting City of Philadelphia made it clear which moniker should be made official.
Regardless of how you feel about the play or the name, your attention has to be fully focused on the Monday Night Wild Card Matchup between the Eagles and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Ground and pound should be the name of the game all night, and Jalen Hurts & Co. need to get their heads on straight if they want to Brotherly Shove themselves into the Divisional Round.
