Adam Aron reminds everyone that COVID destroyed American cinema and box office numbers are plummeting while congratulating Joel Embiid’s 70-point night all in the same tweet
On Monday night, Joel Embiid set a 76ers franchise record and entered NBA history books after dropped 70-points on the San Antonio Spurs.
The performance was incredible and had the internet buzzing while other athletes and notable figures sent congratulatory tweets and posts to Embiid.

Adam Aron, former Sixers president and CEO even chimed in, congratulating Embiid for the performance while also reminding everyone that COVID destroyed American cinema and move theaters are dying at an alarming rate.
I have zero doubts that Adam Aron is a busy guy. He’s not as active on Twitter as he once was during his tenure with the Philadelphia 76ers. These days, when he does fire off a tweet, it typically is about a move release at AMC Theaters which might make sense given the fact that he grouped Embiid’s 70-burger in with COVID and failing box offices…I guess.
Here’s what Adam Aron went with yesterday morning in regard to Joel Embiid dropping 70 points Monday against the San Antonio Spurs.
Adam Aron Tweet Congratulating Joel Embiid’s 70 Burger
Side Note: It’s hilarious that he edited the tweet. Basically, Aron took a few good looks at what he had posted and said “yup, this is the one”
Aron bringing awareness to how hard he’s working for shareholders while also tossing in a quick recognition of his previous employee, Embiid is objectively hilarious.
Now Embiid’s 70-point night is being completely overlooked by angry folks on Twitter who are discussing stock prices. I just went scrolling through the replies on the tweet and not one even mentioned Joel Embiid. Just a bunch of COVID and Stock dorks crying over whatever nonsense Aron was talking about before congratulating Embiid.
Aron was an odd ball owner and CEO of the Sixers during some of the worst years in franchise history. It was a tough task and a job that was basically a lose-lose situation.
He really didn’t do himself many favors.
What I disliked about Adam Aron and his tenure with the Philadelphia 76ers
Mascots: Aron attempted to introduce new mascots that included a moose, a dog, and some Ben Franklin-type old dude that all failed miserably.
Yes Adam Aron is the reason we’re stuck with Franklin the Dog.
Camden Practice Facility: Key word here is Camden. That shit should have been in the Navy Yard and we could have avoided the entire Sixers relocation conversation that still plagues this team today.
Andrew Bynum: The billboards, the lying about his injury, the ridiculous updates. You name it. Total disaster. Oh and that press conference introducing Bynum and Jason Richardson at the Constitution Center where 1,500 Sixers fans showed up…lol – Jesus Christ man. That was insane!
76ers Front Office “Firing” Confusion: If you remember, there were reports saying that Adam Aron was fired and then the 76ers issued a statement saying that wasn’t the case. Doug Collins was axed, Hinkie, who was just hired went radio silent. The franchise was a total mess lol.
What I liked about Adam Aron and his tenure with the Philadelphia 76ers
Confetti: I will say, the Sixers confetti after a win at the Wells Fargo Center was tight. So many people hated it and considered it a “circus act” but I couldn’t disagree more.
That of course, was until the premature confetti doomed the Sixers in what was eventually an overtime loss to the Boston Celtics after Marco Bellinelli hit a game-tying shot with 1.7 seconds left on the clock.
PA Announcer Matt Cord: Strong move. He’s an absolute legend and hopefully, he’ll be around for years to come.

Adam Aron and his statement on AMC and the state of American Cinema
Look, I agree with Aron and is view on what’s happened to American cinema and move theaters across the United States. Did COVID fuck a lot of things up at the box office? Absolutely. However, there’s no way that’s the main reason why Hollywood has been horrible over the past 5-6 years.
We have writers strikes that delayed anything worth watching for half of a year on top of streaming services basically decimating movie theaters by offering exclusive releases and the ability to rent new movies immediately.
Side Note: I now understand how Adam Aron got so sidetracked to include Joel Embiid in this tweet. This guy has dealt and is currently dealing with so much shit. I just went down a rabbit hole writing all this when I opened up a new post draft just to say how crazy the tweet was. My mind is spinning right now.
