Man of the People: Flyers head coach John Tortorella continues to dish out one liners describing his players while taking the time to write back Flyers’ fans

Philadelphia Flyers head coach John Tortorella made headlines last week stating that he would “wet his pants” if he found out Jamie Drysdale and Cam York talked hockey outside of the rink when they hang out together.

Torts has been dishing out zingers all season long. We started with “we play with balls” and now we’ve progressed to “I’d wet my pants”. Not sure what’s happening below the belt but our guy loves dropping sexual references to explain the Philadelphia Flyers and honestly, I can’t really blame him.

Add in the fact that Torts is also writing letters to Flyers fans who reach out to him and the team, and we have an absolute legend in the making leading this hockey team. Torts has been known to reach out to fans who take the time to write him letters, which is cool as shit on both ends. Anyone who’s writing a letter in 2024 deserves some credit and the fact that the head coach of the Flyers is writing them back is priceless.

Personally, I love seeing a coach take the time out of his insanely busy day to write a random fan back. It is awesome to see. Taking that initiative to connect with your fans is exactly what Philadelphia loves. Whether you like the guy as a coach or not, you have to admit this is awesome.

I’ve talked about how the feel of the organization is different with Briere and Jonsey at the helm now. Just look at how special Ed Snider night was on Jan. 6th and Recchi’s recent retirement ceremony.

This adds to that sentiment.
