John Middleton is FIRED UP down in Clearwater, wants his f’n trophy back, tells the Phillies it’s time to go get it
John Middleton is setting the tone early down in Clearwater, Florida as the Philadelphia Phillies get ready to kick off Spring Training for the 2024 Major League Baseball season.
John Middleton: ‘I want our f’n trophy back. Go get it. It’s time.’
Finally. We can forget about the updated out-of-town scoreboard upgrade at Citizens Bank Park because John Middleton is locked and loaded.
No one gets the crowd going like Johnny Mids and Phillies fans deserve every word of it.
We’re talking about a guy who spent his family’s sweet, sweet, tobacco money to buy his hometown Philadelphia Phillies and now is emptying the wallets to build an absolute powerhouse of a baseball team.
Phillies won the World Series in 2008. They had to stolen from their red hot hands in 2009 by Yankees team that was led by a cheating, steroid-using loser named Alex Rodriguez. Ryan Howard tore his achilles and was lifeless on the ground against the Cards in the NLCS and from there, the next decade was one of the longest, most miserable stretches I’ve personally ever watched in Philadelphia Sports.
You had the Sixers dragging through The Process Era. The Eagles were skating by with no real direction. The Flyers were, well, the Flyers and my beloved Philadelphia Phillies entered eternal hell for a decade of no Red October in the city of Brotherly Love.
Then, things changed and now there’s blood in the water. After a trip to the World Series in 2022 and what should have been another trip last year before they choked away Game 6 and Game 7 (and really Game 4 and Game 5) to the Arizona Diamondbacks, John Middleton and the Philadelphia Phillies are ready for revenge in 2024.
Bryce Harper is locked in. Nick Castellanos says the vibes are high.
Trea Turner is (rightfully) TRASHING the new Nike Vapor Premier jerseys. Wheeler and Nola back on the mound guiding the rotation, while those psychopaths Jose Alvarado and Seranthony Dominguez anchor down the bullpen.
At the top of it all, you have tobacco slinging, 300 level sitting, Johnny Mids ready to lead us into the heavens with Uncle Dave Dombrowski by his side.
Hell, maybe even Scott Kingery makes the club out of Spring Training this season? Nothing will get me going more than a fired up John Middleton and JETPAX SZN at Citizens Bank Park this season.
This is what you want to hear from an owner. Screw the reports about Yamamoto. That dork wanted to go to Los Angeles and turned down more money from the Phillies in order to buddy up out there in what I refer to as the “sports dead zone of America.”
