Garrett Stubbs Dancing on my Own replacement

5 songs that could potentially replace “Dancing On My Own” as the Philadelphia Phillies anthem in 2024

Over the past two seasons, the Philadelphia Phillies have made a name for themselves in October and celebrating postseason series wins with a ton of champagne, Budweiser, and a specific song – the Tiesto Remix of Calum Scott’s ”Dancing On My Own”.

While the song was the official, unofficial anthem to the Phillies’ World Series run in 2022, the team tried to get rid of it in 2023, saying it was a second-place song.

That changed relatively quickly.

After a slow start to the season, Nick Castellanos hopped on 97.5 The Fanatic and told radio host Andrew Salciunas that “Dancing On My Own” had returned to the Phillies’ locker room as the season rolled into the month of June.

June 2023: ‘Dancing On My Own’ BACK in the Phillies’ clubhouse

Despite the team’s effort to retire the song, it came back and it made sense given the improved play on the baseball diamond. At the time, Castellanos stated the Phillies started playing the song during the Washington Nationals series that started on June 2, 2023 and once the song started playing, numbers proved it was the perfect “reset” and what I considered the unofficial start of the MLB season on June 1st.

The Phillies went on to post a 7-3 record to begin June and finished the month 18-8. Castellanos hit .351 with 34 hits, 5 home runs, 21 RBIs, and 12 runs scored during the month while his teammate Kyle Schwarber hit 8 home runs to go along with 16 RBI.

“Dancing On My Own” proved yet again, it was the perfect recipe for this Phillies team in 2023, at least until NLCS Game 6 and Game 7. No need to revisit that disaster any further, right?

The Phillies tend to turn things on when June rolls around and as I mentioned above, they finished the month with an 18-8 record while Castellanos and Schwarber both found their footing in a lineup that at the time was missing Bryce Harper.

That brings us to 2024 Spring Training. Garrett Stubbs is reportedly working diligently on replacing “Dancing On My Own” after 2023 didn’t yield the same World Series result as 2022. In a recent interview with Billboard.com, Stubbs was asked about his Spotify Playlist and any future plans to replace it.

That sparked the question as to what song could be a viable replacement for “DOMO”

NBC Sports Philly’s John Clark talked with Bryson Stott and the reports about the song and if would make yet another return to the clubhouse. Stott responded, “I don’t think so… I think we’ll change it but we’ll see what our DJ has to say about it.”

That DJ is obviously Garrett Stubbs. The Liberty Line asked our followers on Facebook and Instagram to help find a replacement. You can check out those suggestions on the Instagram post below.

5 songs I would suggest to replace “Dancing On My Own”

5. Run Away- Suntroke and Olia Tira

Ok so hear me out on this one, there is a reason this is far from number one. This song is best known for its prominent saxophone solo, better known as “the Squirtle saxophone song”. It is being used by the Philadelphia Flyers as their post-game win song and could be a viable option for the Phillies.

4. Love Tonight (Edit)- Shouse

This song is the first song on the “Phils Win” playlist created by Stubbs and saved by nearly 30,000 people. Stubbs mentioned in his interview with Billboard that this is one of the clubhouse’s favorite songs on the playlist, and it found a forever home on the playlist. It is a little too slow in my opinion, but I can see the team celebrating to the song postgame.

3. D-ed Down in Dallas- Trey Lewis

In the previously mentioned Billboard article, Stubbs mentioned his love for this song, and how it just creates a more fun vibe. He said he prefers this song in celebration over “Dancing On My Own” but understands why Calum Scott’s song is the one that united the city. While the profanity of this song won’t allow it to be as featured as “Dancing On My Own” was, it surely should be considered.

2. Dreams and Nightmares- Meek Mill

This song had become the identity of the city of Philadelphia during the Eagles 2018 Super Bowl run. The underdog mentality of that team matched well with the city itself, and Meek Mill’s song became the anthem. While no other Philly team has used the song like the Eagles did in 2018, maybe it’s time for another team to take a crack at it. It worked for the Eagles, maybe the song will be the one that helps John Middleton get that f’n trophy back

1. Dixieland Delight- Alabama

This song led to one of the most electric locker room moments after the Phils eliminated the Marlins from the playoffs and debuted the team’s rendition of the Crimson Tide faithful’s chant to the song. Yes, it may have the same aura of a second-place song as “Dancing On My Own”, considering the use of the classic country song last season, but it should most definitely be considered.
