Eagles debut jerseys with new wordmark and they look awful

The day we all feared has finally come: the Philadelphia Eagles have debuted their jerseys for the 2024/25 season featuring the new wordmark. Unfortunately, they look worse than I could have ever imagined.

The new eagles jerseys have hit the NFL shop and, let me tell you, they have zero aura:

What is this, downgrade city? This fall off will be documented as one of the most drastic in the history of American sport.

You might be thinking, “It’s not that bad! I bet whoever made it worked really hard on it.”

1. Yes, it is that bad. It’s horrific, actually.
2. No, they didn’t work hard it. Quite the opposite.

And what makes me say that? The fact that it’s pretty much a cheap knockoff of the LA Chargers’ wordmark. Just look at this.

Put that graphic designer in the gulag pronto.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it a thousand times. Minimalism is the death of design and is one of the first warning signs of cultural decay.

Now, it can be done correctly, just look at the clean lines and beautiful construction associated with Scandinavian minimalism in both decor and architecture. This is not in that same vein in any way, shape, or form.

Is this an overly negative response? Maybe, but this is how I feel and I have a right to share it. If the Eagles are free to screw up decades worth of branding with a Microsoft Word font design, I have the right to shit on it in a blog.
