Josh Sweat restructures contract, will remain in Philadelphia for 2024 season
Josh Sweat isn’t going anywhere. According to reports, the Eagles are in agreement to restructure the pass-rusher’s contract to remain in Philadelphia for at the very least, the 2024 season.
Sweat signed a 3-year contract extension with the Eagles in 2021 worth $42 million. His contract is still scheduled to expire after the 2024 season.
He will now remain in Philadelphia on a restructured deal with $10M guaranteed plus incentives (max of $13M). Pretty solid restructure for a player who had no prior guarantees in his contract.

Sweat was a fourth-round pick out of Florida State in 2018 and has played his entire career in Philadelphia.
Looking at his numbers, over Sweat’s first 5 seasons with the Eagles he continued to progress before hitting a wall in 2023. His sack production took a major hit, dropping from 11 in 2022 to 6.5 in 2023 – all of which happened over the first 9 games of the season.

| 2020 | 38 | 6 | 3 | 12 |
| 2021 | 45 | 7.5 | 1 | 13 |

With Sweat remaining in Philadelphia, that could mean that Haason Reddick will be looking for a new team this offseason. The Eagles already signed Bryce Huff and while Reddick, who’s generated the 4th-most sacks in the entire NFL since 2020, is a more proven player, it appears he could be the odd man out on the Eagles defense in 2024.
