Mailata will receive $48M guaranteed, along with a $20M signing bonus. His $22M per-year salary makes him the fourth-highest paid tackle on an annual basis in the NFL.
It’s obviously well deserved. Mailata has become one of the best tackles in the game and despite some slight inconsistencies at times, the good far outweighs the bad here.
The Eagles now have the left side of their offensive line locked up for the foreseeable future, with Landon Dickerson signing a similar extension earlier this offseason. With the turnover at center and right guard, having proven stability on one side of the line is huge.
Now that Mailata’s extension is out of the way, DeVonta Smith will more than likely be next.
