WATCH: Shohei Ohtani ‘takes flight’ in Toronto as Blue Jays fans booed him every time he stepped up to the plate

Last night in Toronto, from the second the starting lineups were announced, a crowd of 39,688 at the Rogers Centre booed Shohei Ohtani and continued to do so every time he stepped up to the plate. 

Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers were in town, looking to extend their winning streak to five games and managed to do just that in a 12-2 drubbing of the Blue Jays.

It was evident that Ohtani, who was heavily rumored to be considering the Blue Jays in free agency over the winter, won’t have many friends in Toronto anytime soon. 

At one point during the offseason, it was reported that Ohtani was rumored to be on a jet headed to Canada with plans to sign with the Blue Jays. That did not happen and instead, he signed with the Dodgers. 

The boos definitely weren’t an issue for the $700 million man. Ohtani crushed a home run to deep right field in the top of the first inning to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead.

After an underwhelming offseason, the Blue Jays are off to a disappointing start to the 2024 season. They can’t seem to find any consistency at the plate and have fallen below .500 (13-14) after their fourth consecutive loss and fifth loss in their past six games.
