Joel Embiid claims to ‘love NYC’ which gave Philly Sports Talk Radio the ‘criticism ammo’ they were desperately seeking following an incredible Game 5 win
Tyrese Maxey and a very injured Joel Embiid mounted a near-impossible comeback at Madison Square Garden last night as the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the New York Knicks 112-106 in a thrilling overtime victory.

Following the game, Joel Embiid was questioned on the treatment that New York Knicks fans have given him throughout the first round of the NBA playoffs.
Embiid, as usual, surprised many by answering the question, saying how much he loves the city of New York and Knicks fans.
Of course, the rat brigade over at 94.1 WIP had to find some reason to criticize Embiid and this time around, Ike Reese was leading the charge, focusing on the Embiid video, saying that it wasn’t the “time or place” to “profess love” for New York City.
Brain Dead Ike Reese Took Issue with Joel Embiid’s NYC Comments
Reese, who I would have to assume at this point doesn’t even watch Philadelphia 76ers basketball games obviously missed the entire point of the Embiid video.
Joel ‘Troel’ Embiid, whether you realize it or not, is very smart with his words. He always has been and while at times it may seem like he’s just talking shit, Embiid typically has a motive.

New York Knicks fans have been booing Embiid every time he touches the basketball. Embiid then commented on how he wasn’t happy how they took over the Wells Fargo Center on Sunday for Game 4.

While Embiid may seem genuine with his “love” for New York, I’d bet good money this was just another troll job or said in spite of Knicks fans as he and Tyrese Maxey stole the souls of everyone at Madison Square Garden last night in Game 5.

Here’s the truth. No matter what anyone wants to say about Joel Embiid in the media, they continue to ignore the fact that he Embiid currently ranks in the Top 3 in points per game during the first round of the playoffs.
Yes, the 50-point performance certainly helped in Game 3. You can also say that in Game 5 where Embiid had a triple-double but only 19 points while playing visibly injured hurt his averages.
I think there’s even an argument to be made that last night was one of Embiid’s best games in the playoffs. He managed to recognize his limitations due to injury, make adjustments, and rely on his teammates who actually answered the call and helped secure a win.
Now the series shifts back to Philadelphia on Thursday night. I already wrote that Philadelphia athletes, celebrities, and businesses should be buying up any available tickets on the secondary market to protect the Wells Fargo Center from a New York City RAT INVASION so we’ll see if anyone answers the call.
I know a lot of people aren’t happy with the 9PM start time but honestly, that could deter these loser Knicks fans from making the trip down because of train schedules not being able to take them back postgame.
Keep an eye on SEPTA or Aramark or whatever train company handles transit from Philly to NYC. I don’t want to see any additional trains added to allow Knicks to travel better.
