CB James Bradberry not present at Eagles OTA practices
The Eagles held their second practice of OTAs on Wednesday (first session open to reporters), and there were notable names missing from the field: Josh Sweat, Lane Johnson, DeVonta Smith, Kelee Ringo, C.J. Uzomah, Jake Elliott, and James Bradberry.
OTAs are voluntary so there is no real cause for concern, but Bradberry’s absence could mean more. The 30-year-old corner is coming off a terrible season, allowing 689 yards and nine touchdowns when targeted in 2023, and the writing may be on the wall.
When fellow CB Darius Slay spoke to reporters following practice, he stated that Bradberry maintains a positive attitude.
“I talk to Bradberry all the time. He in good spirits,” Slay said at the NovaCare Complex.. “JB, what he going on year nine? Yea, he be good. He made a lot of money, played good, All-Pro, Pro Bowl player. We had talks. He in good spirits.
His mindset is the same way as mine is. He’s gonna help these young guys get better and make sure we give them the tools to be successful at what they do.”
The Eagles drafted stout CBs Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean in this year’s NFL Draft, making Bradberry’s future with the team even murkier.
If the Eagles decide to move on, they can designate Bradberry as a post-June 1st cut and spread the $15.1M dead-cap over two seasons rather than take on the full cost in 2024.
