WATCH: Charles Barkley defends Caitlin Clark against WNBA ‘haters’ who continue to bite the hand that feeds them
Charles Barkley called out all of the women and WNBA players that continue to criticize Iowa basketball legend and No. 1 overall pick Caitlin Clark.
Charles Barkley standing up for Caitlin Clark
“You woman out there, y’all petty, man… Y’all should be thanking [Caitlin Clark] for getting y’all a*s private charters. All the money and visibility she’s bringing to the WNBA.”
How many shows on television or broadcasters in general can make a statement that starts “You Women Out There…” and not immediately get cancelled?
Answer: Literally no one except Charles Barkley.
He’s right too. It’s funny how the WNBA is constantly complaining about the lack of attention they receive and the second they finally get some solid recognition and a bonafide superstar in Caitlin Clark, they criticize her too.
Note: Yes, I’m aware that the Indiana Fever started this season with Caitlin Clark with four straight losses. Don’t care. A wise man once said “a rising tide lifts all boats” and that is the PERFECT analogy for what Clark has done for the WNBA over the past 2-3 months.
Even Lebron James understands the “Caitlin Clark Effect”
“People need to realize, the Indiana Fever — this is the second year in a row they had the No. 1 pick. Do y’all know what that means? That means they’re not that good.”
The WNBA should embrace Caitlin Clark and be thanking her on a nightly basis for putting asses in the seats. Chartered flights, ticket sales, nationally televised games, you name it. Caitlin Clark actually might the WNBA profitable for once and everyone out there wants to criticize her?
This girl literally played in one preseason game and had over DOUBLE the amount of people in the stands as the highest attended Indiana Fever game from the entire 2023 season.
I still can’t believe someone like Diana Taurasi had the balls to go out there and criticize Clark.
If you weren’t aware, Taurasi downplayed Clark’s impact from the second she was drafted, saying “reality is coming” and that “there’s levels to this thing”. Those are comments that she then walked-back (kind of) while still adding a a few extra layers of smugness and jealousy in the process.

New fans? Hey Diana – almost every single WNBA fan is a “new fan”. You clearly couldn’t “move the needle” as the face of the WNBA so anything you say negatively about Caitlin Clark comes off as just a bunch of jealous slop.
Trust me, I understand that once someone or something reaches the highest mountain top, there are going to be people who criticize and hate just because of that single reason. However, if you’re a fan of the WNBA and want to see it continue to grow and shatter viewership numbers, then the best course of action is to ride the Caitlin Clark wave instead of criticizing her.
