WATCH: Orioles vs. White Sox ends with ridiculous interference call in the bottom of the 9th

The White Sox hosted the Orioles on Thursday night in a high-scoring contest. While Chicago was trailing by two in the bottom of the 9th with two men on and one out; not an impossible situation to come back from, especially with Craig Kimbrel on the mound.

The White Sox’s Andrew Benintendi popped up to the infield for an easy out, but the Orioles were handed a win by a brutal interference call on Andrew Vaughn:

What in the…? I’m at a loss here. I think the broadcasters assessed this pretty damn well.

I know I was saying MLB umpires were finally getting some good PR, but this just completely threw that out the window. What the hell else was Vaughn supposed to do in this situation?

Needless to say, the White Sox were pretty pissed after losing a game on such a nonsense call. Manager Pedro Grifol was letting the umpires have it as the O’s slinked off the field into the dugout, and you can tell the Sox players were absolutely gutted.

Of course, you probably won’t hear any Baltimore players complaining about the ruling, which I don’t blame them for. But nobody is more thrilled with the call than known Baseball Terrorist Craig Kimbrel.

It’s pretty safe to assume Kimbrel bribed these umpires to ensure he didn’t blow yet another save this season. He’s blown three already this season, and one tonight would have had him tied for the second-most so far this season.
