WATCH: Jason Kelce makes promise on how he’ll cover Dallas Cowboys games as a part of the Monday Night Football crew

During the latest episode of the “New Heights” podcast with his brother Travis, Jason Kelce was asked how he would handle calling Dallas Cowboys games as he transitions into the broadcast booth for the upcoming NFL season.

Kelce will work two Dallas home games on Monday Night Football, starting Week 11 against the Houston Texans. He’ll then be back in Jerry’s World when the Cowboys host the Cincinnati Bengals.

Obviously, it’s “Fuck Dallas, Go Birds” forever.

Kelce knows that as well but as usual, when it comes to doing your job correctly, he assured everyone that he would have zero bias against the Dallas Cowboys.

“Oh, I have no bias,” Jason explained, via Awful Announcing. “I just don’t like them. But I’m gonna give them their props. There’s a rivalry, but the reality is, even though I hate the Cowboys’ fanbase…I was at a charity golf outing, and there was a kid, and he was like, ‘Hey, I’m a Cowboys fan.’ I was like, ‘Oh, are you from Dallas?’ And he said, ‘No, I’m from Philadelphia.’ Are you a Lakers and a Yankees fan, too? Like, what are we doing? We’re just picking whatever team we want; that’s where we’re at?”

Kelce added he would “set aside his differences as a player and the competition”. Travis then interjected and called his brother out for being a Pittsburgh Steelers fan growing up in Cleveland – which Jason gave an explanation as to why that was the case.

“I had to; we didn’t have a team,” Jason explained. “We lost our team. The next closest team was the Pittsburgh Steelers, geographically, and I loved Jerome Bettis. I couldn’t keep being a Browns fan when they went to be the Ravens. There wasn’t a team to root for, Travis… the moment the Browns came back, I got a Tim Couch jersey, and I was rocking Tim Couch. I still loved Jerome Bettis, but I was no longer a Steelers fan once the Browns came back.”

I have no doubt in my mind that Jason Kelce will be able to balance his professional objectivity with his Philadelphia Eagles loyalty. At the end of the day, I think it’s pretty clear that Kelce doesn’t like the Cowboys or their fanbase so as long as we know where the allegiances fall, it’s really a non-issue.

It will be interesting to see how he calls the Cowboys game compared to the Eagles in Week 2 – when they will be on primetime Monday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons.
