Eagles CB Quinyon Mitchell one of 50 draft picks who remain unsigned
NFL teams have signed roughly 80% of all draft picks in 2024.
As of June 1st, there are 50 draft picks that remain unsigned, including Eagles CB Quinyon Mitchell.
Due to being a first-round pick, Mitchell’s contract will include a fifth-year option, making the deal a bit more complicated.
Variable elements such as the signing bonus, roster bonus, and other incentives have little room for maneuver, so there isn’t much negotiation between rookies and teams. That won’t stop agents from trying to get the best deal possible for their clients.
In the 2010 NFL Draft, the Rams took quarterback Sam Bradford at No. 1 overall, and he commanded a six-year deal worth up to $78M, with $50M of that guaranteed.
It was the largest rookie contract in league history at the time, and it led to both the NFL and the players union agreeing upon a wage scale for rookie draft picks that still exists to this day.
In summation, no need to worry. Mitchell’s deal will likely get done ahead of training camp.
