WATCH: Tyreek Hill handcuffed during traffic stop on his way to Dolphins game; Scottie Scheffler 2.0?
Miami Dolphins standout Tyreek Hill found himself in handcuffs on his way to the team’s season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
Hill was reportedly stopped for speeding while driving to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. According to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington on “Sunday NFL Countdown,” Hill had a verbal confrontation with the police after being pulled over. The wide receiver was handcuffed during the incident but was later cited for reckless driving and released.
Darlington mentioned that as other players arrived at Hard Rock Stadium, they stopped to try and deescalate the situation. Despite the incident, Hill made it to the stadium well ahead of the game and is anticipated to play against Jacksonville.
Some drivers captured videos of Hill being handcuffed and shared them on social media. In one clip, Hill is seen lying face down on the ground.

Hill’s arrest feels all too similar to the situation involving PGA Tour star Scottie Scheffler, who was taken into custody in Louisville during the 2024 PGA Championship last May.
Scheffler was arrested and jailed for allegedly ignoring an officer’s commands and reportedly carrying an officer on his vehicle. However, video evidence later seemed to contradict the accusations, leading to the charges being dropped.

It seems Hill won’t face the same challenges as Scheffler, as he’s at the stadium rather than behind bars. After the game, Hill will likely share his perspective on what happened.
With that said, Tyreek Hill is certainly going to be on edge after that and it might not be a terrible idea to bet either his receiving prop or touchdown props.
