Nick Sirianni: The Secret Sauce to the Eagles having a successful 2024 season?

It has been quite the last few days in Philadelphia after the Eagles narrowly escaped with a 20-16 win over the Cleveland Browns. A team that is viewed as one of the worst in the NFL, that script alone would make perfect sense for any outrage or drama in Philly. However, it was Nick Siranni on and off the field that have been the topic of conversation. It certainly raised debate whether or not he crossed the line by tapping too much into “who he is” or perhaps he couldn’t control his emotions, which tends to happen from time to time with humans.

Long story short, Nick Sirianni did indeed apologize to the fans, and guess what? apology accepted Nick. Let’s be real, everyone reading this has let their emotions take over at some point. It’s a part of the game, and part of life. for Nick Sirianni, those emotional outbursts seem to happen a little more often, but that’s just who he is as a coach, and clearly the players love that about him. Regardless of how you feel about the Eagles coach, it’s time to focus on what really matters.

Wild Nick Sirianni stat

I’ve written several blogs this week covering a range of topics around Nick Sirianni, including the situation where he supposedly “overruled” Vic Fangio on a defensive play, which has since been cleared up. There’s also been plenty of talk this year about how much input or control he actually has over the offense. But honestly, I’m tired of rehashing that same old conversation—it’s a dead horse at this point.

As fans, we all knew Sirianni was stepping into more of a CEO-style head coach role this season. So, why is everyone acting shocked when he steps in on either side of the ball? That’s literally his job. Sure, there’s reason to question some of his 4th down play-calls so far, but to single that out as a reason to fire him or blame him for the team’s slow start is ridiculous.

The Eagles haven’t just been missing key starters due to injuries—they’ve been without Pro-Bowl caliber talent. On top of that, Jalen Hurts has carried his turnover struggles into this season. Hopefully, he got it out of his system after that clean performance against the Browns, where he didn’t turn it over at all. Just as a reminder, when Hurts has zero turnovers in a game, the Eagles are 11-1.

All things considered, I can’t shake the feeling that this is one of those moments we’ll look back on and say it either sparked the Eagles’ rise or marked the start of their downfall. It feels pivotal, almost like a flashback to Nick Sirianni’s infamous flower speech in his first year as head coach. Think about it—Jalen Hurts finally played a clean game, Sirianni seemed to get his swagger back, and the Eagles came away with a win.

Say what you want about Nick Sirianni—maybe he is a bit of a lunatic—but you know what? He’s our lunatic. And honestly, I couldn’t care less what his exact role is. If the team’s winning and clearly heading in the right direction, who cares? Results are all that matter at the end of the day.
