Philadelphia Union reveal new premium seating options at Subaru Park

The Philadelphia Union, fresh off missing the ‘yoffs for the first time since 2017 announced a bunch of stadium upgrades at Subaru Park in Chester – installing “premium seating” options for fans attending games next MLS season.

According to the known soccer loving gentleman at Crossing Broad, Kevin Kinkead says that the first premium seating option is called “2010 North,” and includes field seats with access to a “signature luxury bar.”

The second is “The Commodore,” which is basically the same thing on the opposite side of the field. You get access to a pub with seats right below the Sons of Ben and Keystone State Ultras. And the third is a set of new indoor/outdoor suites that accommodate 30 people.

Don’t hate the look at all.

Subaru Park is beautiful but unfortunately, it’s stuck in Chester next to a prison and Harrah’s Casino- which was the dumbest move maybe in Philadelphia sports history.

The Delaware Waterfront in Chester could be amazing but ya know, it’s in Chester which has a historically bad reputation and has long been considered to be one of the worst cities in America.

I wish it was different, trust me.

As a DELCO native, having Subaru Park right down the street is super convenient. If I had a penny for the amount of late night Harrah’s runs me and the boys have pulled off, I would quite literally be able to buy the entire city of Chester.

Instead, I’ve given thousands to the black jack table. Lesson learned.

Here’s the problem: When you arrive at Harrah’s, completely blacked out and tripping on mushrooms at 3AM, you instantly need to come to terms that you’re not seeing things and the view from the parking garage where you’re looking down on an actual prison and at times, prisoners, is actually happening.

From there, you head into the casino and are faced with a tough decision on whether or not to venture outside the bottom level to smoke a quick cig and touch the “dirt” on the horse track that looks like water from the Delaware River.

Once you confirm that it is in fact a horse track, you get one of your boys to make a few horse noises on the track and pretend he’s racing in the Kentucky Derby before venturing into the casino to lose all your money on blackjack.

As the sun is coming up, you hop back in the car after drawing straws for who’s the most sober and get home before Good Morning America airs on TV.

“Drew you’re getting off track (pun intended) what’s this have to do with Subaru Park and the Philadelphia Union?”

Point Being: Subaru Park should have been built in the Navy Yard. You would still have the views of a bridge and on top of that, a few Navy Warships that could be firing off cannons with every goal scored.

Apparently the Union didn’t score a lot of goals this year?

Cavan Sullivan isn’t quite ready to be the team’s savior yet and I wasn’t able to watch a single match since AppleTV+ has a stranglehold on the MLS but a quick Google search revealed a bad Philadelphia Union product this year.

That’s a shame and begs the question if money on “premium seating” would be better utilized to bring in premium talent but what do I know?
