NFL official gives nonsense explanation for Saquon Barkley fumble ruling in 3rd quarter vs. Jaguars

The Eagles held on to defeat the Jaguars 28-23 on Sunday, but the game should have never been that close to begin with. Saquon Barkley put on a phenomenal performance, and the only blemish was an extremely dubious fumble in the third quarter.

Saquon Barkley looked to be down by contact, but officials ruled it a fumble, and the Jags returned it for a touchdown to make it a one-score game:

I mean, you tell me. The defender trips Saquon Barkley up, and he bumps into a teammate on the way down. Everyone knows the ground can’t cause a fumble. Blow the play dead and draw up the next play, right?

Well, according to the brain-dead referees on the field, that’s not the case. Even the MENSA scholars in the replay booth confirmed the ruling, and what was a blowout turned into a tight contest at the drop of a hat.

Even the GOAT himself, Gene Steratore, was baffled by the ruling. And I trust his judgment so much I might write him in for president on Nov. 5.

Zach Berman knew something was fishy, so he asked the NFL VP of Instant Replay why they ruled it a fumble. Let’s just say his response makes the whole thing make even less sense than it already did.

What the fuck does any of that even mean? I swear to god, these NFL refs treat the job like they’re rocket scientists sometimes.

We don’t even know what a catch is week-to-week; now we’re entrusting them to determine if the stumble was caused by the defender. That’s not even hard.

Watch. I’ll show you.

The defender hit his leg. He fell into an offensive lineman. Then he fell down.

Seriously guys, what the hell are we doing here?
