Eagles Howie Roseman NFL Trade Deadline

While the Philadelphia Eagles stayed silent at the NFL Trade Deadline, here’s what happened across the NFC

For the first time since the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, Howie Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles stayed silent at the NFL trade deadline.

Definitely a bit surprising given the typical aggression that Howie and the front office have when adding talent, but when you break it down, I guess it makes sense?

The obvious need was an edge rusher but now, it’s clear that Josh Sweat and Nolan Smith stepping up in Vic Fangio’s defensive scheme as we get deeper into the NFL season was thought to be enough.

Adding depth at wide receiver, tight end, linebacker, or even running back could’ve helped, but none of those positions screamed urgent.

Meanwhile, a few of the Eagles’ NFC East rivals were busy making moves. Let’s break down what happened—starting with one that left a lot of fans scratching their heads.

Cowboys land WR Jonathan Mingo from the Carolina Panthers

Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys pulled the trigger on “season-saving” trade for wide receiver Jonathan Mingo, giving up a fourth-round pick to the Carolina Panthers.

On paper, the Cowboys apparently were trying to add some firepower to their offense like but when you look at the numbers, that’s not something Jonathan Mingo will bring, even more so with Dak Prescott’s season in jeopardy.

Mingo has 55 career catches for 539 yards with ZERO touchdowns over 24 games.

ZERO TOUCHDOWNS. I Repeat: Jerry Jones handed Carolina a fourth-round pick for a guy who hasn’t found the end zone once. It’s a strange move, especially when you remember they only got a fifth-rounder in return for Amari Cooper back in 2022.

Dallas is sitting at 3-5 and again, just lost Dak Prescott for “multiple games.”

While the move itself minimal, why are trading for anything at the deadline? They’re throwing draft capital at a receiver when they need a quarterback, or at the very least, more stability in the lineup.

It’s like they’re ignoring the bigger issues, hoping Mingo will somehow make the difference. Good luck with that, Cowboys. The Eagles will be in Jerry’s World this Sunday. See you soon.

Washington Commanders Bring in CB Marshon Lattimore

Washington was a bit more strategic, landing star cornerback Marshon Lattimore from the Saints for a handful of picks (3rd-, 4th-, and 6th-rounders) plus a fifth-rounder in return.

Great trade for the Commanders. They were in need of a cornerback to solidify a wobbly secondary. Lattimore is one of the league’s best at his position, and he’s under contract through 2026, so this isn’t a quick fix; it’s a commitment to staying competitive.

The Commanders clearly believe they’ve got a shot at making a playoff run, and this move only boosts their chances.

While the Commanders currently hold the first place position in the NFC East, no one in Philly or Vegas is buying it. The Eagles are still favorites to win the division, with odds as high as -150 across major sports books.

Around the NFC at the Trade Deadline:

Lions get DE Za’Darius Smith from the Cleveland Browns

Detroit made a move that makes sense for them.

With Aidan Hutchinson out for the year, the Lions needed an edge rusher, and they picked up Za’Darius Smith from the Browns for a reasonable price: a 5th- and 6th-round pick in exchange for Smith and a seventh.

Smith’s got five sacks already this season and is locked up through 2025. Detroit needed that extra defensive punch, and Smith brings it without breaking the bank.

Cardinals add OLB Baron Browning from the Denver Broncos

The Cardinals, meanwhile, decided to boost their defense by picking up linebacker/edge rusher Baron Browning from the Broncos for a sixth-round pick.

Arizona has struggled defensively, especially with Dennis Gardeck out for the season, so Browning adds some needed versatility. He’s not a superstar, but he’ll bring solid support to a defense that’s seen better days.

Vikings land OT Cam Robinson, RB Cam Akers (again)

The Vikings took advantage of the Jaguars’ recent struggles to land a solid replacement for injured standout Christian Darrisaw. Robinson isn’t flashy, but he’s reliable, and that’s exactly what the Vikings need as they push for a playoff spot.

In addition to Robinson, the Vikings also acquired Cam Akers again in a late-round pick swap with the Houston Texans. Akers brings a rugged, physical element to back up Aaron Jones. For a team in the playoff hunt, a little insurance at running back never hurts.

Seattle Seahawks trade for LB Ernest Jones IV

The Seahawks’ are focused on defense. Bringing in Ernest Jones IV gives Seattle a young, hybrid linebacker who could be a key piece for years to come. Jones, with his expiring contract, could be a solid foundation for the Seahawks defense, provided they lock him up long-term.

San Francisco 49ers add depth with DT Khalil Davis

With Javon Hargrave out for the season, the 49ers needed to reinforce their defensive line, and they did it on the cheap by picking up Davis. While he only has one career start and mostly served as a backup with the Texans, Davis is a low-risk option who can fill gaps and add some rotation depth for a banged-up defensive line. It’s not a game-changer, but it’s a practical move for a contender needing support on the interior.

So yeah, the Eagles were silent and across the NFC, there were trades made but nothing really major outside of the Commanders landing Lattimore.

And if you’re an Eagles fan, you’re probably feeling okay about it—especially when the Cowboys seem determined to make head-scratching moves at the worst possible time.
