CJ Gardner-Johnson serenades Cooper DeJean

WATCH: CJ Gardner-Johnson sings beautiful rendition of “Cooper DeJean” song on the sideline

In case you were wondering, Cooper DeJean is not a safety. In fact, he’s been the third-highest graded corner by PFF since Week 6, and his teammates have taken notice of the rookie’s hot start.

CJ Gardner-Johnson put the sentiment to music on the sideline during the Eagles’ Week 8 blowout of the Cowboys:

DeJean has been a revelation as a slot corner since he took over the starting spot from Avonte Maddox. He’s been excellent in coverage and his physical playstyle shuts down the quick passing game in a ay that allows the rest of Vic Fangio’s scheme to function.

Obviously, being a Caucasian Cornerback comes with some stigma. I guarantee you if he wasn’t a cracker he’d have gone in the first round with his skill set and athleticism.

A lot of people figured DeJean would end up as a safety when he made his way to the league despite dominating the position while at Iowa. So, as it turns out, the song CJ was singing on the sideline was unfortunately not an original piece. The OG track dates back to around the draft, and I’ve included it below for your listening pleasure.

The original version of “Cooper DeJean” might be at the top of my Spotify Wrapped:

Very real and legitimate journalist. I don't see a loss on the schedule.
