Eagles Ravens 24-19 recap

Eagles cement themselves as Super Bowl contenders following gritty 24-19 road win against the Baltimore Ravens

The Philadelphia Eagles are flying higher than ever after their 24-19 win over the Baltimore Ravens. Now 10-2 on the season and riding an eight-game winning, this team is looking more and more unstoppable by the week.

Sunday’s win over the Ravens solidified the third-straight season with double-digit wins for the Eagles, tying them with the Minnesota Vikings for the NFC’s second-best record, just one game behind the 11-1 Detroit Lions.

It’s hard to not look ahead, even more so after a statement win like this against a very good Baltimore Ravens team but I’m sitting here and wondering if the Eagles will ever lose again this season and yes, that includes the playoffs.

Don’t get me wrong, the Eagles weren’t perfect today by any means but it was an dominant performance in all the ways that mattered. The Ravens entered today’s matchup with the NFL’s No. 1 run defense, yet Saquon Barkley made them look ordinary in crunch time.

Baltimore hadn’t allowed anyone to rush for more than 63 yards in a game this year, but Barkley did that in the fourth quarter alone and finished with 107 yards, including a game-clinching 25-yard touchdown run.

If the Ravens can’t stop Saquon Barkley in the 4th, who can?

Answer: Nobody

Don’t let the final score fool you either. The Ravens’ garbage-time touchdown made the score look closer than it was. Until those final three seconds, this was really a 24-12 game.

That’s right. 12 points for a Baltimore offense that entered today averaging 427 yards and 30 points per game. The Eagles’ defense held them to 302 yards, 12 points, and just 4.7 yards per play until that garbage-time drive saved them in the box score.

To put it as simply as possible, this was a defensive masterpiece for the Eagles, especially given the absences of leaders like Brandon Graham, Darius Slay, and Reed Blankenship, who left with a concussion in the third quarter.

The Eagles’ defense kept Lamar Jackson under control, stifled Derrick Henry, and made big stops when it mattered most.

And speaking of Derrick Henry—he’s been on an MVP-level tear all season, but the Eagles shut him down when it counted. He finished with 82 yards on 19 carries but had no explosive runs and failed to find the end zone for just the third time this season.

The Eagles’ tackling was textbook, with guys like Cooper DeJean, Nakobe Dean, and Zack Baun going low to ensure Henry never got loose.

Cooper DeJean is ELITE

On the flip side, Barkley continues to make his MVP case. He’s the best player in the NFL right now, period. You can slow him down for three quarters, but when the game’s on the line, he’s unstoppable.

Barkley’s late-game brilliance, combined with the Eagles’ dominant offensive line, makes them nearly impossible to beat when they’re playing with a lead.

Tristin McCollum, who stepped up big when called upon. With Blankenship out, McCollum made a game-saving pass breakup on a critical fourth down late in the fourth quarter. For a guy with just 93 career snaps before this game, it was a moment to remember.

Jalen Carter deserves his flowers, too. He’s playing at an absurd level, with All-Pro numbers that would make even Fletcher Cox jealous. Carter, while being held on what felt like every single snap, proved yet again he’s a wrecking ball on the interior and a tone-setter for the Eagles’ defense.

The only question mark coming out of this game is the passing offense. Jalen Hurts struggled to find a rhythm against Baltimore’s 31st-ranked pass defense, finishing with just 118 yards on 11 completions.

Honestly, like I said in my preview earlier this morning, without DeVonta Smith, the passing game lacking its usual explosiveness was expected but as usual, the Eagles still managed to win comfortably.

At this point, the Eagles are doing all the things great teams do: they’re winning on the road, dominating in the trenches, and finding ways to close out games in the fourth quarter. This team has come a long way since last year’s collapse, and they’re now playing with the confidence and consistency of a true Super Bowl contender once again.

With five games left—against the Panthers, Steelers, Commanders, Cowboys, and Giants—the Eagles have a legitimate shot to run the table. After eight straight wins, it’s hard to imagine anyone stopping this team right now.
