LeSean McCoy congratulates Saquon Barkley on breaking Eagles single-season rushing record

Ladies and gentlemen, Saquon Barkley has officially claimed the Eagles’ single-season rushing record with 124 yards against the Panthers. This brings his season total to 1,623 yards in just 13 games, which is good for first place in the NFL. The previous record holder took to Twitter to congratulate Barkley on an unreal first season in Philadelphia.

LeSean McCoy was all class, showing Saquon Barkley some love:

This right here is what it’s all about. Too often, we see former players either ignore or discredit the success of guys still in the league. It shows what a class act McCoy really is.

Plus, Saquon did this in 13 games, so the “he had an extra game” argument doesn’t even apply here. Obviously, Shady wouldn’t use that against him anyway, but it removes all doubt from the record and shuts down any potential haters (aka loser Giants fans).

That’s not to say Shady wouldn’t bring it up to bust his chops; it’d be a great clip on his FS1 show, but still.

Now, Saquon Barkley sets his sights on Eric Dickerson’s all-time record of 2,105. He needs 483 yards to break the record and has four games to do it, so a little over 120 yards per game would put him in the top spot.

Fortunately, he’s averaging a touch over 124 yards per game this season, so he’s on pace to snatch the crown. It will likely take all 17 games to claim the record, but if he wants to do it in 16 to shut everyone up, he’ll need about 160 yards in the next three games.

That may seem like a stretch, but if anyone can do it, it’s Saquon.

Very real and legitimate journalist. I don't see a loss on the schedule.
