Jalen Hurts Broken Finger

Jalen Hurts confirms broken finger, delivered an elite performance against the Steelers anyway

Jalen Hurts is the undisputed leader of the Philadelphia Eagles. Don’t think so? Well, look no further than Sunday’s 27-13 win over the Steelers and you’ll soon realize you’re an idiot.

QB1 confirmed postgame that he’s playing with a broken ring finger on his non-throwing hand while casually putting up 335 total yards and three touchdowns. All that does for me is prove once again that nothing—literally nothing—phases Jalen Hurts.

He appeared on the injury report earlier in the week, and on top of that, photos surfaced of him walking into Lincoln Financial Field with his left ring finger wrapped. Did it bother him? Absolutely not.

After the game, Hurts addressed the speculation:

On if the finger is broken and how it impacted his play:
“Yes, it’s broken, and it did impact my play.”

On how it impacted his play:
“Yeah. I mean, it’s broken, so yeah.”

Did Hurts’ broken finger impact his play?

The short answer: not really.

Hurts completed 25 of 32 passes for 290 yards and two touchdowns. The finger didn’t seem to impact his passing mechanics, nor did it affect his ability to protect the ball.

  • Fumble? Not Related: His one fumble came on a play where T.J. Watt got him from behind, but it wasn’t the injured hand holding the ball.
  • Tush Push? No Problem: Concerns about the injury affecting Hurts’ signature “Brotherly Shove” were quickly put to rest. He ran 15 times for 45 yards and a touchdown, including several successful short-yardage sneaks.

Side Note: It was broke, but no changes needed for Hurts. If the finger impacted him, it didn’t show up in the box score.

Hurts’ ability to perform at such a high level despite the injury is yet another example of why he’s the heart and soul of this team. Broken finger? No excuses. He took the field, executed the game plan, and led the Eagles to their 10th straight win.

While Hurts admitted he’s playing through discomfort, he didn’t let it affect his performance or demeanor. That’s the type of resilience and focus that championship teams are built on.

Regardless, the Eagles will monitor Hurts’ injury going forward. With the NFC East crown within reach, Hurts will definitely be laser-focused on finishing the season strong, broken finger and all. In a league where toughness is often talked about but rarely demonstrated, Jalen Hurts continues to embody what it means to be a franchise quarterback.
