Flexed: Eagles-Cowboys moved to 1 PM, Packers-Vikings takeover 4:25 PM time slot

The Philadelphia Eagles will host the Dallas Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field this Sunday in a game that has been flexed out of its 4:25 PM time slot to 1PM in favor of the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings.

The NFL decided to move the NFC East battle to 1 PM to make room for the Packers-Vikings game, which has been bumped to the 4:25 PM marquee slot on FOX. Unfortunately, Eagles fans tuning in will still hear Joe Davis, Greg Olsen, and Pam Oliver on the call for the second straight week.

The Eagles (12-3) are coming off a frustrating 36-33 loss to the Commanders, snapping their 10-game win streak. Despite the setback, they remain in control of their destiny. A win over the Cowboys would clinch the NFC East and guarantee at least the No. 2 seed in the conference.

The Cowboys (7-8), meanwhile, are surging under backup quarterback Cooper Rush, winning four of their last five games. They narrowly edged out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 26-24 on Sunday night and would love nothing more than to play spoiler to their division rivals.

If the Birds lose, they could still clinch the division and No. 2 seed, but they’d need Washington to lose to the Falcons on Sunday night.

Jalen Hurts’ status is the big question heading into Sunday. The Eagles QB1 remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol after a hit knocked him out of the Commanders game. If Hurts isn’t cleared, it’ll be Kenny Pickett under center for Philly in a potential backup vs. backup showdown with Rush.

Commanders somehow survive Hurts-less Eagles, celebrate like they won the Super Bowl

The last time these two teams met in Week 10, the Birds dominated the Cowboys 34-6 in Dallas. Without Hurts, replicating that performance will be a tall task.

The Eagles have already clinched a playoff berth, but their path to the No. 1 seed is murky at best. They’d need to win on Sunday and get help in the form of losses from both the Lions and Vikings.

If they take care of business against the Cowboys and Washington falters against Atlanta, the Eagles lock up the NFC East and can shift their focus to fine-tuning for the postseason.

Week 18 will see the Eagles hosting the Giants to close out their regular season. If the playoffs started today, the Eagles would host the Commanders in a rematch of the chippy Week 16 game that featured plenty of drama—and a lot of bad blood.

This flex to 1 PM doesn’t diminish the importance of Eagles-Cowboys. Whether Hurts can suit up or Kenny Pickett has to step in, Sunday is a must-win for Philly if they want to lock up the division and avoid depending on outside help.

For fans, this is your chance to pack the Linc, drown out Cooper Rush, and remind the Cowboys exactly who runs the NFC East. Let’s get it done.
