Eagles make five roster moves ahead of Week 18 game vs. Giants
The Philadelphia Eagles have announced a series of roster moves as they prepare for their Week 18 matchup with New York.
Eagles Defensive Additions
Among the new signees is defensive back Tariq Castro-Fields, a player with experience across multiple teams in the NFL. Drafted in the sixth round of the 2022 draft by the San Francisco 49ers, Castro-Fields’ journey has seen him play for the Commanders and, most recently, the Panthers. His 2024 season with the Panthers included nine snaps on special teams.
The Eagles also added defensive back Mekhi Garner to their practice squad. Garner, an undrafted rookie out of LSU, has already made an impact this season. Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 212 pounds, he’s proven to be a reliable presence on both defense and special teams. Garner was elevated from the practice squad three times during the regular season, accumulating 27 snaps on defense and 45 on special teams. His playoff eligibility resets provide the Eagles with added flexibility as they head into the postseason.
Defensive end Charles Harris is another notable addition. Harris, initially claimed last month, offers depth to the Eagles’ defensive line. His release came after Bryce Huff returned to the lineup, but his re-signing signals the team’s intention to maintain a robust rotation of pass rushers.

Eagles Release Two Players
To make room for the new additions, Philadelphia has released defensive end Tarron Jackson and running back Lew Nichols from the practice squad.
As the Eagles prepare for this final regular season game, fans can expect to see the impact of these changes on the field, especially since the team is opting to rest their starters.
