Update: Caitlin Clark Stalker causes a scene during court hearing on Tuesday, held on $50K bail
It’s been a minute since we’ve had a Caitlin Clark headline to talk about, and I wish this one wasn’t so unsettling. If you haven’t heard, Caitlin Clark has been dealing with some downright creepy behavior from a man who’s been accused of stalking her.
Michael Lewis Jr., a 55-year-old man, showed up in court this week in Indianapolis after being arrested for allegedly sending threatening messages to Clark on social media and even driving around her neighborhood. Seriously, how do people get this unhinged?
Anyway, his court appearance on Tuesday was a complete disaster. Picture this: the guy walks in wearing an orange jumpsuit, shackled at the wrists, and as soon as the judge starts speaking, he leans back and blurts out, “Guilty as charged.” Like, what? The judge, Angela Davis, kept reminding him that he had the right to remain silent, but nope—he kept interrupting. Classic case of someone who doesn’t know when to quit, right?

Tuesday’s court hearing for Michael Lewis Jr., the guy accused of stalking Caitlin Clark, was an absolute circus. The hearing was supposed to be straightforward—going over what Lewis is charged with, letting him know his rights, and laying out the pretrial conditions. But nope, Lewis had other plans.
Insane Behavior
From the jump, this guy couldn’t stop talking. When the judge asked him to confirm if his name was spelled correctly in the court documents, he decided to call out a tiny mistake like it was some kind of “gotcha” moment.
“My name is Michael Lewis Jr., not Michael Lewis,” he said, all smug about it. Then he followed it up with, “There’s no junior. I’m free. Guess you got the wrong guy.” Like, seriously? You’re in court wearing an orange jumpsuit, man.
Things got even weirder
During the hearing when the judge asked Michael Lewis Jr. if he needed a court-appointed attorney. Instead of answering the question, Lewis started talking about how what he really needed was his medication for his mental health. He claimed the jail wasn’t giving it to him.
Judge Davis, clearly trying to keep things on track, told him a doctor would evaluate him and prescribe medication if necessary. Props to her for keeping her cool because, honestly, this whole situation is beyond bizarre.
Eventually, the court went ahead and appointed a public defender to represent Lewis. The attorney was already in the room and stepped up to help guide him through the rest of the hearing—which, let’s be real, sounded like it desperately needed some structure.
Judge Davis wasn’t playing around and had Michael Lewis Jr. sign a no-contact order for Caitlin Clark. She also hit him with a stay-away order for Gainbridge Fieldhouse and Hinkle Fieldhouse—smart moves, honestly.
Michael Lewis Jr. rolled into the court hearing with a $50,000 bond surety already set, and Judge Davis decided to keep it that way. Pretty standard, right? But, of course, Lewis couldn’t resist chiming in again.
Lewis interrupts yet again
As the judge was in the middle of finalizing the bond, Lewis interrupted to claim that it won’t be necessary. Like, seriously? The guy’s in no position to make that call, but he just couldn’t help himself.
It’s honestly maddening that Caitlin Clark, one of the brightest stars in sports today, has to deal with this level of craziness. This guy, Michael Lewis Jr., is not only putting her through unnecessary stress, but the entire court hearing was a joke. The system needs to take this seriously, lock him up, and let Caitlin get back to doing what she does best—dominating the game without any of this nonsense hanging over her head. Enough is enough.
