1. Eagles must fill the void at linebacker:
Losing Nakobe Dean to a season-ending knee injury is a big blow for the NFL’s No. 1 Defense during the regular season. With Dean sidelined, Oren Burks and rookie Jeremiah Trotter Jr. will see an increase in snap counts on Sunday against the Rams.
Both linebackers made significant contributions in last week’s win over Green Bay, including a pivotal early turnover on special teams that set the tone early the Eagles.
They’ll have to answer the call again on Sunday as the Rams will give them a heavy dose of screen passes, misdirection plays, and quick routes to the middle of the field.
2. Make Stafford Sweat
If the Rams’ offense is clicking, it’s usually because Matthew Stafford has time to operate. When Stafford is comfortable in the pocket, he can pick apart defenses with precision. However, the Eagles proved in Week 12 that they could make him uncomfortable.
They sacked Stafford five times and held the Rams to three fruitless possessions in the second quarter, effectively stalling their offense.
For Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio, the blueprint is simple: pressure, disrupt, and dominate. Look for the Eagles to dial up creative blitzes and rely on their elite front seven to make life miserable for Stafford.
3. South Philly Weather Watch
The forecast for Sunday is shaping up to be a classic winter football scene in Philly, with temps in the 30s and a chance of snow showers. While the Eagles are built for cold-weather games, the conditions could impact strategy. A snowy field might mean a heavier reliance on the run game, which plays into the Eagles’ strengths with Saquon Barkley and their elite O-line.
4. Trench Warfare:
The Birds’ offensive line dominated the first matchup, paving the way for Saquon Barkley’s franchise-record 255 rushing yards and giving Jalen Hurts ample time to operate.
But the Rams’ defensive front, led by rookie Jared Verse, has transformed since then. Verse spearheaded a jaw-dropping nine-sack performance against Minnesota last Monday, proving that this unit can disrupt even the best game plans.
Jared Verse is also a massive softie, so look for the Eagles offensive line to handle business by neutralizing the Rams’ pass rush. If the offensive line holds up, Barkley and Hurts could be in for another monster day on the ground.

5. Set The Tone Early..
In their Week 12 meeting, the Birds jumped out to an early lead and forced the Rams to abandon their run game. The result? Stafford and the Rams’ offense became one-dimensional, and the Eagles’ defense feasted.
The formula hasn’t changed: score early, take control, and make the Rams play catch-up. The offense, led by Hurts and Barkley, is built to punish teams that fall behind.
Saquon Barkley achieved something that hasn’t been done since 1977 in Eagles win vs. Rams
The Rams are riding high after their blowout win in Minnesota, but the Eagles are simply the better team. With home-field advantage, a dominating offensive line, and a defense that thrives on chaos, Philadelphia has all the tools to advance to their second NFC Championship Game in three years.
Final Score Prediction: Eagles 27, Rams 17
The fans at Lincoln Financial Field will be loud, the snow will be falling, and the Eagles will march on. GO BIRDS.
