Nichols, 23, was originally selected by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year rookie deal but was later waived with an injury designation.
After his time with the Packers, Nichols joined the Eagles’ practice squad and later signed a futures contract with Philadelphia. He spent time on and off the roster throughout the past year before securing his latest deal.
A standout at Central Michigan, Nichols played in 32 games over four college seasons, tallying 3,060 rushing yards on 614 carries (5.0 yards per carry). He also contributed as a receiver, recording 71 catches for 575 yards and totaling 29 touchdowns.
Nichols is set to join a backfield featuring Saquon Barkley, Will Shipley, and Tyrion Davis-Price, while Kenneth Gainwell prepares to test free agency.
Lew Nichols is one of my favorite sleeper running backs in this class, he is not overly explosive but he runs downhill well and violently.
