Report: Eagles were finalists to sign veteran safety before he joined New Orleans
The Eagles reportedly wasted no time trying to find a new safety on Tuesday.
According to James Palmer, Philly almost signed veteran safety Justin Reid before he ended up signing with New Orleans. The Eagles, Titans, and Saints were all vying to acquire him.

Trading CJ Gardner-Johnson just to turn around and sign another veteran safety seems like it would’ve been ass backwards, but what do I know.
Reid ended up signing a three-year, $31.5 million deal with New Orleans, which is actually more than CJGJ was signed for last offseason. Philly even trying to sign Reid doesn’t make any sense, unless they were trying to get him on a one-year deal.
Who knows.
Nevertheless, expect Howie Roseman to acquire at least one safety before free agency ends.
