Eagles CB Cooper DeJean working with reigning DPOY Patrick Surtan II this offseason
Cooper DeJean may have won a championship in his rookie season with the Eagles, but he isn’t remaining complacent.
The former second-round pick is already back to training this offseason, working with reigning Defensive Player of the Year Patrick Surtain II.

Surtain recorded eleven pass breakups, four interceptions, and allowed a 59.8 passer rating when targeted last season, becoming the first corner to win the DPOY award since Stephon Gilmore in 2019.
DeJean learning from the NFL’s top corner will go a long way in furthering his development. The Eagles’ defense changed completely when DeJean was inserted into the starting nickel role after the bye week — he didn’t allow a single touchdown all season.
DeJean’s pick-six on Patrick Mahomes helped the Eagles stop Kansas City’s quest for a three-peat, bringing a second Lombardi trophy to Philadelphia.
If DeJean continues to study under players like Surtain and work on his craft, his potential is limitless.
