Eagles NFL Draft Targets: The best tight ends if a Dallas Goedert trade happens
I’m playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers. As many fans are dreading the thought of the Eagles trading Dallas Goedert, and brain-storming the package the birds would get back, I’ve already been studying this 2025 NFL draft class.
Obviously our sweet boy Dallas has been a standout at his position since being selected in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He’s always been amongst the best tight-ends in football and one of the most under looked players in the league, due to his impact as both a blocker and pass-catcher.
However, with a cap hit exceeding $10 million this season, Goedert is seeking a new contract, and the Eagles are reportedly considering trade possibilities to move the former South Dakota State star. Oh, and while were at it, add Super Bowl champion next to his name as well as “the tush push finisher”.
Perhaps, aside from the salary cap issues, the potential banning of the tush push is the reason the Eagles are looking to trade Goedert? I’m joking, of course.

We all knew the Eagles were going to have to do most of their work in the draft this offseason, due to all the free agents they had as well as the players due for extensions. So, replacing Goedert with a young player from the draft was always going to be the best approach.
Eagles 2025 NFL Draft: Tight End Targets
#1 – Tyler Warren (Penn State)
Let me be clear here, the Eagles most likely won’t be able to draft Tyler Warren as he’s projected to be a top 12 pick in the draft.
The 6’6 tight end is absolutely dynamic with the ideal size and athleticism for the NFL. His combination of burst and acceleration after the catch makes him a dangerous playmaker, while his big catch radius and elite ball-tracking ability allow him to high-point passes with ease. Beyond just a traditional tight end role, Warren’s versatility as an offensive weapon allows him to line up in multiple spots, creating mismatches all over the field.
#2 – Colston Loveland (Michigan)
I should note that in a few mock drafts, the Eagles stood pat and were able to draft Colston Loveland, which would be a home-run scenario.
Last season at Michigan, Colston Loveland was a focal point of the passing attack, accounting for 34.7% of the team’s receiving yards—one of the highest marks among tight ends in the nation. If Dallas Goedert stays, Loveland would have the opportunity to develop behind him as the No. 2 option, adding another reliable pass catcher and strong blocker to an already stacked Eagles offense.
If concerns over his past shoulder injury cause Loveland to slide, this pick could be a steal for Philadelphia. While the Eagles could opt to trade up for him, in this scenario, they landed him without having to make a move.
#3 – Elijah Arroyo (Miami)
Elijah Arroyo would be an ideal fit for the Eagles as they look to add a dynamic weapon to their offense. The “U” has been known as “tight end U” for a long time, Coming from Miami, a program known for producing elite tight ends, Arroyo has the rare ability to split out wide and create separation against NFL-caliber safeties and cornerbacks—putting him in the same mold as playmakers like Travis Kelce and Darren Waller. His combination of size, speed, and agility makes him a nightmare in coverage, too quick for linebackers and too strong for defensive backs.
Beyond just his athleticism, Arroyo is a polished route runner with excellent ball-tracking skills and the ability to make tough, contested catches. He thrives in finding soft spots in zone coverage and has the speed to stretch the field down the middle. Adding a versatile receiving threat like Arroyo would give the Eagles another mismatch weapon, making an already dangerous offense even harder to defend.
History Repeating Itself? The Eagles’ 2018 Draft Strategy Could Return
I mentioned earlier a scenario where the Eagles still keep Dallas Goedert and draft a tight-end; that could indicate that Howie decides to restructure Goedert’s contract and in that case the birds could do what they did back in 2018 coming off of the Super Bowl.
That year, fresh off a Super Bowl victory, Philadelphia held the final pick of the first round, just as they do this season. Despite already having a premier tight end in Zach Ertz—who was coming off a historic 116-catch season, the most ever by a tight end at the time—the Eagles still made Goedert a priority in the second round.
